Music Curator (Contract – Leave Coverage)

About the Role:
absence. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining, evolving, and executing existing music programs, as well as building new programs from scratch.
An ideal candidate is confident working independently, comfortable stepping into established client relationships and creative frameworks, and able to deliver high-quality programming with minimal ramp-up. You’ll work closely with Account Managers and the creative programming team to ensure continuity, responsiveness, and musical excellence across an active roster of accounts. This position is to fill for parental leave. 12-18 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and evolve existing client playlists in line with established creative direction
  • Execute playlist updates, refinements, and refreshes efficiently and accurately
  • Interpret curator notes, brand guidelines, and client feedback with minimal supervision
  • Ensure smooth continuity of programming standards, tone, and quality during the coverage period
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to address feedback, adjustments, and time-sensitive requests
  • Apply strong musical judgment across genres, eras, and commercial environments
  • Organize, tag, and manage music selections with precision and consistency
  • Step into ongoing projects and workflows without disrupting client experience

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a music curator or programming (hospitality, retail, radio, events, or similar)
  • Ability to work quickly and decisively within established creative frameworks
  • Broad, practical music knowledge across styles, decades, and use-cases
  • Strong understanding of how music supports brand identity, energy flow, and dayparting
  • Excellent attention to detail and comfort managing large, active playlists
  • Clear, professional communication and strong collaborative instincts
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities
  • High degree of reliability, follow-through, and accountability

 

Especially Important for This Role:

  • Ability to hit the ground running with limited onboarding
  • Confidence making informed musical decisions without constant oversight
  • Respect for existing programming philosophies with knowing when thoughtful evolution is appropriate

 

Nice to Have (But Not Required):

  • Prior experience covering or inheriting active accounts
  • Background in DJing, radio programming, or music journalism
  • Familiarity with hospitality or retail branding
  • Experience working alongside account or client-facing teams
  • Fluency in a second language
