It seems like The Monkees will never really go away. Although their TV show ran for only 3 years (1965-68), somehow the group has maintained a legacy that has lasted for half a century. That in large part is due to nostalgic hits like “I’m a Believer” “Daydream Believer” “Last Train to Clarksville” and “(I’m Not Your) Stepping Stone.”

Flash forward to 2016 and The Monkees have a brand new album about to be released titled, Good Times! along with a 6-month North American tour. Longtime fans may feel this new release is sacrilege as former lead-Monkee Davy Jones passed away from a heart attack back in 2012, though it turns out he will actually be heard on the album via the Neil Diamond song “Love to Love” which the band originally recorded in the 1960s.

Good Times! will also feature a number of other songs written for the Monkees back in the 60s which never ended up being released, as well as some songs written by contemporary songwriters such as Ben Gibbard, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo.

In fact it is River’s track, “She Makes Me Laugh” that serves as the album’s first single which you can check out for yourself below. Underneath that, take a look at the Monkees upcoming tour dates and see if they’re coming to your town.
