Brand New Music

Aldous Harding | Designer
Created with the reflection of it’s creator at the forefront, Designer is an elegant thought experiment on doubt, contemplation, longing and ultimately gaining confidence. Thoughtful and reserved, this could be considered the second of back-to-back modern classics that Harding has released. A disciplined, singular talent, Harding is fully in stride – which is a breath of fresh air in a noisy and muddled time.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard | Fishing for Fishies
There’s certain groups who have not only the energy to pump out album after album, but also the ceaseless pit of creativity to imagine something nearly brand new each and every time. King Gizzard are one of these special unicorns. With serious grooves, Fishing for Fishies imagines blues rock and soul in the age of the robot (I think?). Trying to figure out exactly what King Gizzard are doing from album to album is probably a lost cause, but it’s joyous to be along for the ride.

Kevin Morby | Oh My God
High-concept while staying wholly rooted in rock and roll, Kevin Morby questions life in all it’s craziness on this, his fifth album. While the guitar, which was previously played a starring role in his works, has taken a back seat to his vocal arrangements, you’ll still find trademark urgency throughout. A defiant step forward for the Kansas-native who’s previous LP City Music was more directly relatable – this time around Morby presents an ambitious double-album that represents a more focused work.
