At the beginning of this year PJ Harvey started recording the follow-up to 2011’s excellent Let England Shake. The new album, Harvey’s ninth, was done as part of an art installation at London’s Somerset House. The installation gave visitors to the Somerset House an opportunity to see Harvey actually work on and record the album itself.

The Somerset House website explained: “Visitors experienced exactly what was happening at a particular moment in the studio, as Harvey and musicians, together with her longstanding producers Flood and John Parish, went through the creative process of recording an album of songs.”

Apparently the whole process was also filmed and now Harvey is gearing up to release the album this spring. It is said that Harvey also traveled to Kosovo, Afghanistan as well as to Washington D.C. for work on the album.

Today (Dec 18th) a teaser for the new album was released, which you can watch below, and it reveals Harvey recording a new menacing-sounding song, inter-cut with what looks like her in Afghanistan.

Below the teaser you can also watch Harvey perform a new song back in October called “Chain of Keys”.
