Outspoken musician (and likely the NFL’s least favourite musical performer in history), M.I.A. has released two brand new songs titled, “MIA OLA” and “Foreign Friend.” While there’s still no exact release date for the new M.I.A. album, (said to be titled, Matahdatah, and expected this year), that hasn’t stopped her from releasing new music.
Late last year, M.I.A. released the mildly controversial track, “Borders” as well as this year shared, “Boom ADD” which is an extended version of her 2013 Mantangi-album track “Boom Skit” and references her troubles with the NFL.
Additionally, M.I.A. also features on the excellent recently released Baauer track, “Temple.”
Though “MIA OLA” is paired with “Foreign Friend”, it’s “MIA OLA” that is getting the majority of the attention as it samples “Circle of Life” from the Disney classic, The Lion King. The description for M.I.A.’s new tracks on Soundcloud reads, “OLA TO ALL MY FLYPIRATES and DJS – THIS IS AN ANNOUNCEMENT !!!! LIVE FROM THE MEXICAN BORDER OLA !!!! MIA ON THE WAVES.”
Check out “MIA OLA” and “Foreign Friend” below and keep your eyes peeled for news on M.I.A.’s upcoming album, Matahdatah.
