The first trailer for new movie, London Town, which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the legendary Joe Strummer, has just been released.
The film, directed by Derrick Borte, tells the story of a boy in London, 1979, who gets introduced to the awesome music of The Clash by his barely there, fairly absent mother. He then somehow manages to cross paths with the band’s iconic frontman. Add in that the boy is just 14 years old, comes from a broken working-class family, and is just starting to notice girls, and what we’ve got is a full-fledged Punk Rock coming-of-age story!
You will likely notice in the trailer, a recast Clash band, along with re-recorded Clash music, re-shot iconic album covers… and re-shot old concert audience footage? Either way this could be great or a total disaster.
Also keep in mind that this isn’t Jonathan Rhys Meyers first time doing a Music-related movie or taking on the role of a famous musician.
