HEALTH’S new single “NEW COKE” is actually quite good for you.

It’s been 6 long years since the release of their underground sleeper hit “Get Color” released back in 2009, and it looks like they’ve moved their sound in the right mainstream direction.

I actually remember the first time I heard them. I was in a used record store and thought there was something wrong with the speaker system playing the music overhead. Deep bass drums, extremely loud snares and static noise that was somehow making sense (turns out it was the song “Die Slow”) I turned to the clerk, who looked like he was a step away from death with his pale skin and long black hair and asked him who was playing. He muttered “Health, man…” Ever since, I’ve been waiting for the new album.

They’ve been off the radar for quite some time while mainly doing soundtrack work, specifically for the hit video game “Max Payne 3” and it seems that they’ve adapted a few things from that experience.

Off of their new album “Death Magic” released on August 7th, “New Coke” brings together the similar sound of their earlier work, and have sprinkled more of a rhythm that people can actually move to.
