ABOUT RISING APPALACHIA
Sisters Leah & Chloe have come together to form Rising Appalachia. They bring to the stage a collection of sounds, stories, and songs steeped in tradition and a devotion to world culture. Intertwining a deep reverence for folk music and a passion for justice, they have made it their life’s work to sing songs that speak to something ancient yet surging with relevance. Their first album Leah and Chloe was released in 2006.
Leah and Chloe work with international musicians to incorporate everything from simple harmonics with banjos and fiddles, to a wide variety of drums, kalimbas, beatbox, djembe, baliphone, congas, didgeridoo, tablas, spoons and washboard creating a full mix of world, folk and soul music.
