Every year since 2010 Adult Swim have released a new free-download song every week of the summer as part of their Adult Swim Singles series – and it’s back for 2017. They’re getting rid of the MP3 download and moving completely over to streaming for the new year and instead of stopping at the end of the summer, the Adult Swim Singles series will run all year long.
In an interview with Verge, Jason DeMarco, creative director at Adult Swim said, “We’re doing something no one else does. I don’t know why they don’t do it. Maybe they don’t want to, or maybe no one is motivated enough to do it. But it’s been seven years, no one else is doing it, and I get the feeling that no one else is going to.”
Since they’re going all year, there is an absolutely massive line-up of singles from a wide variety of artists including Migos, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, Brian Eno, DOOM with Jay Electronica, Zola Jesus, Wavves, Thundercat, Sleep, Shabazz Palaces, Pallbearer, and regular contributors Run The Jewels and Flying Lotus.
