Welcome to RXCOMMENDS, where our team of music curators pick the best tracks released this week. What new music has been occupying our office playlist and what fresh picks are we programming for our clients? Find out below!

“What it Is” – Amber Mark
By: Michael Primiani

This boom bap banger of an R&B track is upbeat ecstasy for our music programs! Amber Mark brings a killer groove to “What It Is” with layered vocals, stacked but smooth percussion and a consistent bass groove. This one is perfect for bringing the bar to life in a late-night playlist or starting the night with fusion appetizers and cocktails with funny names. Get this one going and order yourself a Joey Joe Joe Jr. Shabadoo Spritzer, is that the one with the vermouth in it?

“Jaywalker” – Andy Shauf
By: Michael Primiani

A perfect twangy folk hit for the first week of autumn, “Jaywalker” is a highlight from Andy Shauf’s new album Wilds. Wilds is comprised of material Andy recorded in the lead up to his last feature length album The Neon Skyline (which we did an indepth analysis of here). This song features elements of baroque pop, with reverb accented keys and a very easy going yet subtly complex rhythm. This is a perfect track for seeing the first changing leaves of the season and trading in your T shirts for your hoodies. We’ll definitely be programming this for our lodge style hotels, tucked away cafes and any brunches we can get!

“Don’t Want It (Feat. Tara McDonald)” – Bondax
By: Jamie Gemuend

Remember these guys? After 3 years of silence, Bondax makes their triumphant return with this groovy nu disco track. The appealing arrangement of the bass line and introduction of guitar around the 1:35 mark, creates a fluidity and flow that will have you movin’ all night long…

“Fuck These Fuckin Fascists” – The Muslims
By: Matt Lipson

This track was the perfect antidote to a bout of cabin fever last Friday – one of those days right before you move where all your possessions are packed away in boxes and you become bored and angsty. I had never heard of The Muslims – a trio of black and brown queers with a no-frills punk sensibility. This particular track is thrashing and fearless, vague enough to retain a hormonal teenager’s charm but pointed enough to speak to people’s frustrations. This would play beautifully at a pizza joint by a college campus or a dive bar. I can already hear the sound of my boots unsticking from the floor with each step.

“Big Energy” – Latto
By: Lindsay Bell

We can all pretend its summer for a little while longer with sunny bops like “Big Energy” by Latto. This tune will have you blending a daquiri and gravitating towards that sweet sun beam to soak in all the good vibes.
