Your honor…I’m guilty. Exhibit A: Desiigner’s “Panda” video.
I’ve been avoiding this song for at least 10 years now (the song was released in December 2015, and the video was released May 2016, but it feels like it’s been 10 years) and I’ve recently gave into temptation and watched the video for Desiigner’s “Panda” why did I do this you ask? I really have no idea.
But, there’s something that happens once in a blue moon. A music video can actually change the way you feel about a certain song. Whether that is to dislike a song, or love a song even more…a video can change the way you feel. Don’t get me wrong, I indulge in my ratchetness from time to time. But this time it hit me pretty hard in the groin like a kick from your crush.
The remarkable, and very well thought and produced video was directed by Paul Geusebroek and had none other than Kanye West (who makes a cameo in the video) as a creative for the concept. There isn’t much of a concept other than the use of a go-pro strapped to the rapper, but it’s very well directed and exceeded my expectations by far. The direction resembles one of my favorite films of all time “Requiem For A Dream” directed by Darren Aronofsky and a fan will appreciate this concept. And now, I CAN’T STOP LISTENING TO THIS DAMN SONG.
