Working with Patrick Carney (Black Keys), Jim Eno (Spoon) and indie-rock big-shot Richard Swift, the Denver-duo Tennis has released their 3rd record, Ritual In Repeat.
Having established themselves with a sort of throwback doo-woopy vibe, and with this new record has done a little bit of a different pop throwback.
After their EP earlier this year and in hearing songs like “Mean Streets” I figured that album no. 3 would be something sort of the same thing – and really, you can see this sort of a mixed bag. Although songs like “Bad Girls” seem right in their wheelhouse, many of the other tracks seem to generate a “new” sound, so to speak.
It’s an album of change, but also an album that harkens back to days just passed. Kinda like this fall weather we’ve been having! Throw this on repeat.
