Since leaving super group One Direction, Liam Payne has kicked off a very successful solo career since signing with Capitol Records in 2016. His recent hip-hop oriented single “Strip That Down” featuring Quavo shot straight to the top of the charts. Now he’s back with a more tempered, electronic hit “Get Low”, featuring the production stylings of EDM star Zedd.

While you can tell that Liam is poking around different styles to truly find his sound, Zedd brings a very solid summer beat on “Get Low”. It takes alot of inpsiration from other recent hits like Drake’s “One Dance” as well as Tropical House artists like Kygo and Sam Feldt to bring a groovy, dancehall reminiscent beat, while keeping the melodies rather subdued throughout the track yet fun and accessible.

Liam’s verses and lyrics compliment the sound well, and leave you dancing and singing along well after the end of the song. Overall, “Get Low” represents continued growth and diversity in both Zedd and Liam’s sound as they continue to pave their own paths in trying to break the pop bubble.
