Singer Songwriter, Lera Lynn, rose to fame after appearing on the HBO hit drama, True Detective. She’s continuing that momentum by following up the impressive 2014 album The Avenues with her new album Resistor. It offers some of the same moody and reflective vibe, but she also interjects more movement and texture without much of the gloom into her new project. “Shape Shifter” is the lead single off the album and allows Lynn to rise from underneath the shadows. It is a mid-tempo, punchy groove skewed more towards the indie-rock genre. Stylistically, the album is diverse and offers more than the melancholy songs her character sings on the hit show. On “Resistor” she smartly serves up everything from alternative to funk and pop-oriented rock that doesn’t clash too much with her Americana roots.
