You won’t believe me when I tell you that Billie Eilish is only fifteen years old! The LA-based songstress has been serving up bold indie electropop since she was barely a teenager.
Growing up in a household of musicians and actors, it’s no surprise that she inherited the artistic gene. She joined the Los Angeles Children’s Choir at eight years-old and since then has been exploring her musical aspirations.
The artwork for her album Don’t Smile at Me is a true reflection of her artistry and individuality. The eight-track album is an interesting listen from start to finish, as each song delivers something new, from catchy harmonies to unforgettable melodies. Billie draws influence from a broad spectrum of artists such as Aurora, Lana Del Rey , ‘Tyler, the Creator’ and Earl Sweatshirt.
Her track “My Boy” is cheeky with a sense-of-humor, with lyrics such as “My boy loves his friends like I love my split ends and by that I mean, he cuts em off.” Laced with elements of r&b and jazz, the lyrically savvy track is sure to get stuck in your head!
Her song, “idontwannabeyouanymore” is a beautiful ballad that appears to be talking about self-esteem and heartbreak.
