Breaking records is becoming a new normal for the rapper Drake. Just six months ago he became the first artist to hit 1 billion streams on Apple Music with his album Views. Now, the Canadian-born Hip-Hop legend in the making is at it again! His new release More Life from his OVO Sound record label, recently racked up a mind-boggling 89.9 million views in just 24 hours after its debut on the same streaming platform. Unlike last years Views which was exclusively released on Apple Music, this years More Life is available on competing streaming platforms such as Spotify. His latest project was streamed over 61.3 million times on Spotify, knocking off Ed Sheeran’s Divide from the top spot for ‘one-day’ streams. And if that wasn’t enough Drake also broke records for single-day artist streams on Sunday, March 19th with 76.4 million staggering plays. More Life is now on track to beat pretty much every music streaming record out there which, ironically, were mostly set by Drake. Currently, 9 tracks off the new album are featured on Apple Music’s top 10 chart. “Free Smoke,” the opening song on More Life, is the most-streamed track on the album, followed by “Portland” and “Passionfruit.”
