Taking their name from the Japanese concept of “true feelings” and one’s intimate self, British duo HONNE combine soul with synths to convey their vision of musical intimacy. The pair of producers — James Hatcher and Andrew Clutterbuck — met at university and began collaborating mere days after school started.
HONNE sites their musical influences to the likes of Al Green, Bill Withers, Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson. HONNE does a good job at fusing elements of soul, funk, pop and rock together, which keeps each track fresh.
They released their debut EP, Warm on a Cold Night in September 2014, followed that same year by All in the Value. In 2015, they released two EPs, Coastal Love and Over Lover.
Their latest singles include the mid-tempo Day 1 — a smooth funky track, while Sometimes offers a synth-pop vibe.
