While the resurgence of Latin music has taken over the United States, sparked largely by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s release of “Despacito”,  it seems that Canada is not taking a backseat on the infectious rhythms of Salsa,  Cumbia and Reggaeton. Boogát who hails from Montréal is a Canadian-Mexican artist who initially started releasing French music and later decided to tap into his cultural roots. Considering the multicultural nature of Canada, it’s no surprise that we are now starting to see an emergence of Latino music.

In 2013, Boogát released his first Spanish album, ‘El Dorado Sunset’. It won two Felix Awards for Best World Music Album and Producer of the Year. Since then Boogát has been touring North and South America and parts of Europe. His album ‘Neo-Reconquista’ won the Juno and Felix awards for World Music Album of the Year at the 2016 Juno Awards and the ADISQ gala respectively.

His latest album, ‘San Cristóbal Baile Inn’, includes collaborations with Andrés Oddone, Frikstailers, Miss Bolivia, Niña Dioz and Lemon Bucket Orchestra.

Boogát will be joining us on RX Music LIVE, so be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to catch his performance!
