On Nov. 6th Columbia Records is releasing the next installment of the Dylan bootleg series that started in 1991. The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12 will come in 3 forms: a 2-disc highlights edition, 6-disc deluxe edition, and the intriguing 18-disc collector’s edition. This set covers one of Dylan’s most prolific eras when he was recording three classic albums Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde on Blonde. According to a press release the 18-disc set “will include every note recording during the 1965-1966 sessions, every alternate take and alternate lyric.” That might seem like overkill to some but to others like myself it offers a nice glimpse into the creative process of one of the most creative minds at the height of his creativity. Should be fascinating.
