The last time we heard from Outkast’s Big Boi, he had partnered with Alternative-Electro duo, Phantogram, for their collaborative Big Grams project. That was back in 2015, and now five years since his last proper solo album, the iconic rapper has announced a new solo LP titled, Boomiverse. Although details are still scarce, we know it is “coming soon,” along with we now have album’s the first single, the Adam Levine-assisted, “Mic Jack.”

It’s clear that the song aims for the mainstream, with Big Boi’s recognizable raps flowing seamlessly along the song’s dancey up-tempo beat. Add in Levine’s catchy “You’re hotter than July / super colder than December” chorus and it feels safe to say we’ll likely be hearing this one on the radio soon (*that said it still doesn’t touch the awesomeness of “Shutterbug.”)
