Recall the old adage, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”? Well, Beyoncé has taken the power of this quote and turned it into an illustrative masterpiece with her
new visual album Lemonade. HBO provided the first glimpse into her latest project with a one-hour special event that aired this past Saturday. Beyoncé then surprised her fans with an album release that includes the full length HBO special, 12 songs and accompanying videos which marks the mega stars 6th straight number one album to appear on Billboard 200. Although, initially only available on the streaming giant, Tidal, which is owned by her husband Jay Z; it has also recently been made available on iTunes and Amazon. Guest appearances on the album include Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, James Blake and Jack White. This daring work of art takes an intimate look into the romantic ebb and flow of her marital life and potent topics ranging from race to police brutality. Although she primarily tackles infidelity and betrayal, Beyoncé is more than a woman scorned on Lemonade. She is introspective, empowered and delivers a formidable message to the world, but more personally… to her husband. She does not timidly or discreetly dance around these sensitive issues, but unabashedly puts them out there with such grand intention that the album demands grand attention!
