R&B Songstress, Angie Stone, has released a new album aptly titled Covered in Soul. Four decades into a slow-burning career, Stone has proven that she can hang with the best R&B soul-stirrers, but Covered in Soul is a compilation of hits and misses released by Cleopatra Records. At times, her vocal delivery ranges from too casual to familiarly rich and robust. The misses are the ‘barely’ remade versions of “Wish I didn’t Miss You,” “Baby” and the anthem-like song “Brotha”. These songs were already classics and the covers didn’t actually enhance the legacy that they already leave behind. She does add a nice touch to covers of vintage hits such as, “These Eyes” (The Guess Who); “Smiling Faces” (The Undisputed Truth); “Everyone’s A Winner” (Hot Chocolate); “Is This Love” (Bob Marley) and “It’s Too Late” (Carole King). The complete tracklist is listed below. Covered in Soul is available everywhere digitally.
