The World Famous Spitting Chicken Cantina in Sherman Oaks means business. “Sometimes you want to say F it, strip down the show and have a nice day with good food and good drink!” says restauranteur and bar owner Richard DiSisto. And that’s exactly what The Spitting Chicken Cantina did. With a menu of traditional Mexican dishes done right, and now, a music vibe courtesy of Prescriptive Music, The Spitting Chicken Cantina guarantees a great meal.
Prescriptive Music created a one of a kind playlist for The Spitting Chicken that reflects its “no-nonsense” attitude. It features upbeat exciting rock music that spans the ages, from The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith to new and undiscovered indie rock, old school hip hop and some funk, and rock music with a pulse and drive. The Spitting Chicken has a Wolfmother attitude with a fun and upbeat groove.
The Spitting Chicken Cantina features dishes rich in flavor and tradition with a homemade feel – fresh ingredients, hand made tortillas, flavorful sauces, and lots of peppers. To start, share the Grandmother’s Guacamole served with chips and salsa, or the Quesadillas de Casa, with grilled corn and grilled onion, served with habanero/papaya and jicama/mango salsa. For dinner, try any one of the Recetas de la Abuela, or Grandmother’s Recipes, or make your own combo with the A La Carte menu options. Wash it down with one of the Specialty Margaritas or drinks featuring Karma Tequila. Try the Mexican Prison – a specialty drink made with Karma Reposado “shanked and stabbed” with fresh jalapeno and habanero puree, fresh lime, lemonade, and agave nectar, served over ice rimmed with cayenne sea salt.
