February 9, 2011Great ambience at BLD Restaurant

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner: that is what BLD Restaurant does. Oh, and brunch – and they do it well. The masterminds behind Grace Restaurant in Los Angeles, husband and wife duo Neal and Amy Knoll Fraser (along with restaurateur Richard Drapkin) have done it again with this local Los Angeles favorite. Serving equally impressive and delicious menus for breakfast, lunch, brunch, supper, and dinner, BLD Restaurant has become a familiar neighborhood hotspot as well as a destination restaurant for foodies and new diners alike. BLD is also well known for its special picnic boxes, perfect for an outdoor concert, park, or trip to the beach. Prescriptive Music was excited to have a hand in designing the restaurant’s cool atmosphere with even cooler background music. The menu features familiar breakfast items, sandwiches, salads and entrees but there are also a few twists, like blueberry ricotta pancakes and braised Moroccan smoked lamb. Best of all, most ingredients are freshly prepared in-house and otherwise purchased organic and free-range, which makes for a gourmet experience in a comfortable, friendly environment. BLD’s large, sunlit windows shine in onto café style tables, a neutral, warm palette accented with bright reds, and a lofty ceiling that says, “come on in, and stay a while”.  The mid-tempo music playing in BLD speaks to the cool comfort of the restaurant, mixing modern, folky indie rock like She & Him and Fleet Foxes, jazz standards from greats like Ella Fitzgerald to more current crooners like Madeleine Peyroux, and jazzy remixes from artists like the Verve.

The programmers at Prescriptive Music aimed to compile cool modern and classic music together to create a vibe that would not only complement the hip, casual environment but also the fresh and innovative menu items.  See (and hear) for yourself; check out BLD Restaurant today!
